In November, eight Premium Service Brands partners collaborated with Kids-Lift to run shelf-stable food drives for seven different school districts all over the country. In the end, they raised enough food to support over 200 families all over the United States.
Kids-Lift reached out and coordinated with the local school districts to help tailor the food drive to their exact needs. Many schools recognize that winter break can be a tough period for families that are already struggling. In addition to the added pressures of the holidays, when kids who get the majority of their meals from school are at home, they may have a tough time getting enough to eat. Food insecurity is a subtle challenge facing kids that can prevent them from achieving their best in school. When they don't know where their next meal is coming from -- or when they're hungry -- they can lack the focus needed in the classroom because they're thinking about other important things.
These Premium Service Brands partners worked within their communities to get major donations of shelf-stable food and snacks:
- Kurt & Debby Southworth: 360° Painting NWA
- Sharon & Craig Stone: 360° Painting Southlake
- Brian & Roxanne Conrad: 360° Painting of Naperville
- Justin Rowling: 360° Painting of Central VA; Maid Right of Central VA
- Larry Hubbard: Maid Right of Williamson County
- Chris Hoover: Maid Right of Roswell
- Chris & India Tillman: ProLift Garage Doors of South Charlotte
These partners were able to raise hundreds of pounds of shelf-stable food to support families in their communities. Each project was directed towards filling the specific needs of each school. For example, 360 Painting of Naperville donated 2000 snacks to the school district -- a direct request from the district. The district's coordinator explained that students get hungry throughout the day and go to the nurse's office complaining of stomach pain when the real culprit is hunger. With the snacks, students are able to stay focused and in class.
This unique program connects local businesses owners to their communities in ways that lift everybody up.
